We provided a design solution to meet our customer’s sealing requirements on a new Air Intake Manifold Assembly.
Our design replaced a Teflon to Stainless Steel rotary shaft seal that was not providing an adequate seal for the application. The functional requirements called for a shaft seal that must resist up to 20 psi, in both directions, but have a frictional force less than 17 in-oz torque. The seal must also accommodate axial shaft positioning during
final assembly.
After the design was optimized, our customer was able to proceed with a functional assembly and a production commitment.
